Putting Families First
Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Veteran, School Teacher, Children’s Minister, Community Member
Election Day is November 8th, 2022
What Do School Board Members Do?
School board members set policy, approve the budget, and hire and evaluate the superintendent. They also vote on curriculum and instruction policies, school boundaries, and the selection of new staff.
Issues
Sexual relations, sexual gender, racial issues, political, and religious issues should be monitored by parents and guardians, not the Education System. Parents should have a say in what their children are learning, not learning as well as how they are learning every subject matter that is presented to their child. I also believe that Teachers deserve and need the respect, trust and support of the parents of the children that they teach every single day, as well as the School District in which they work and serve every day. Open positive communication between the School District, Teachers and Parents will make for a beautiful teaching and learning environment for all of our children.
Meet Carlotte
First and foremost, I am a child of the Most-High God. Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb. I find my identity in Christ Jesus alone. And I give Him all the Praise, Honor, and Glory due His Most Holy Name for allowing me to be able to run for this school board seat, Amen
I am a wife, and a mother of six (6) beautiful daughters who all have attended and graduated from various schools in Charleston County District 5, the youngest of which will be graduating this upcoming school year. I have 1 son in law and 2 wonderful grandchildren who have blessed me so much. I have lived in North Charleston for over 51yrs. My heart and soul are a part of North Charleston, SC. I am a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. I am currently a Teacher’s Assistant of 16 years here in the Charleston County School District. I have taught Sunday School from the Nursery to Kids Ministry for well over 25+ years. I am the Director, Coordinator, and Nursery/Preschool Pastor at North Palm Church here in North Charleston where my family and I are very active members.
Children are the heart of our ministry. Whether it is in a secular aspect or church setting, We are called to protect the eyes, ears, and hearts of all of our children in our communities as well as our homes. If given the chance, I will stand at the gate/door of the Mountain of Education to guard our children’s hearts; so that what goes into their eyes and ears in the classroom setting does not adversely affect their hearts, minds, and spirits as they grow into productive, wise and successful adults.
I believe in the Parental rights of all parents to know what their children are learning and how they are learning it in the PreK, Kindergarten through 12th-grade classrooms.
I also believe that Teachers deserve and need the respect, trust, and support of the parents of the children that they teach every single day, as well as the School District in which they work and serve every day. Open positive communication between the School District, Teachers and Parents will make for a beautiful teaching and learning environment for all of our children.
And because I am a parent as well as an active working member in the field of Education, I believe that I can be the connecting factor between families, Teachers, and School District, because I have seen from both perspectives what can be done to better equip our schools for success.
I Promise to saturate every decision, issue, and circumstance that comes before me in prayer. I will seek wise Godly counsel and engage, empower and equip every teacher and parent in my realm of influence to help our children receive a good successful Education in our Charleston County School District. I also Promise to walk in Integrity, Honor, Respect, and work in Unity with every School Board trustee that I serve alongside because teamwork makes the dream work.
Lastly, Being entrusted with the lives of thousands of children from every walk of life is a great responsibility. It should never be taken lightly and I have been entrusted with the lives, souls, and hearts of many children over the course of almost 34 yrs (my own children as well as other people’s children). I have earned the trust and respect of parents, children, teachers, administration as well as church families across the communities in which I have lived and served in North Charleston.
Now is the time to reach back and serve the families, teachers, administration, and schools of our beloved Lowcountry. This is why I am running for Charleston County School Board Trustee for District #5.
